Sixteen candles

So, my son turned sixteen this week. We planned to get his learners permit on his birthday on 9/11 Tuesday. I picked him up from school early to go take the test. We got to D.M.V. (Department of Motor Vehicles), they had a big sign on the window in red may I add “CLOSE”. Schedule says they are open Tuesday to Saturday. There are cars park outside so I figured there are people inside. I drove to the back of the building and another car followed me. The driver got out of the car and knock at the back door.

I ask why the office is close and told me that she didn’t ask. So, i drove to the front again because I can see a few people waiting at front. A man close one of the window blinds up front and pointed out the close sign while doing so. I was not satisfied, I wanted to know why they close the building.

Went to back of the building again and saw someone getting ready to take the driving test. I ask the tester what is going on. She told me that someone accidentally sprayed pepper spray and they will be open to the public again the next business day.

I was very disappointed, I wanted my son to get his permit on his birthday. I guess we can do it the next day.

The next day, I went to school to picked my son early again. We were the second one inline at D.M.V. We signed all the paper works, showed all the needed documents and off he go to take the test. He was the second person to take the test and he was the first one to finished. He got four wrong and he didn’t pass. Another disappointment, I thought he was ready. Anyway, there is another day.

On Thursday their license center is not open (only the photo area is open) so we need to go back on Friday…which is today. I did the same thing, picked him up early to get there before they close. There are a lot of people when we got there. I guess getting him out of school early didn’t help. There are four people in front of us for the permit window. I told him to take his time and re-read all the questions before pressing the enter button. His siblings and I went for a walk around the area because his youngest sibling is getting bored. When he got done I gave him a thumb up and he nodded his head yes. What a relief, for being in the top ten of his class I thought he will failed the test for the second time. But I he proven me wrong ha ha ha.

My DH can’t wait to teach him how to drive. GOOD JOB TODAY ERIC, I hope you become a very good driver. We are very proud of you, keep up the good work.
